D is for Daddy (my hero)

My dad is one of those people who acts quickly in an emergency. I can think of numerous occasions where, without thought, he just rushed in to save someone's life. I've seen him jump out the window of a bus to give someone the Heimlich maneuver. I've seen him open the door of a moving car and dive in to save five children from rolling into rush hour traffic when one of them released the emergency brake. He's saved people from drowning. He's given more blood in his life than most of us have in our bodies at any given moment, and he's held a man as he lay dying.

And the very best part about my dad? He thinks it's no big deal.

But I do.

B is for Bucky

I decided to use my half of the alphabet as a chance to sketch things from my life. So here's one of my favorite fellers, Bucky. And just in case you doubt how silly we are at my house, I will share the Bucky song with you:

I am a Bucky puppy, and they call me Buckeroo.
I wear my little hat and boots instead of shoes.
Buckeroo, Buckeroo.
I'm the rootin'est, tootin'est, buckin'est Maltipoo.

I am a Bucky puppy, and they call me Buckeroo.
I love my buckin' mommy and my buckin' daddy too.
Buckeroo, Buckeroo.
I'm the rootin'est, tootin'est, buckin'est Maltipoo.

I told you we were silly.

Welcome!

Welcome to dos juanas, the internet playground of Janee Trasler and Jana Christy.

We’re children’s illustrators who share friendship, a medium, and a love of sequential art. We also love to play, so we make up art projects to share with each other. We thought we might share a few here too.
